1. Who We Are and What This Covers
PRAVIEL is operated by Anton Soloviev, doing business as PRAVIEL, from the United States ("PRAVIEL," "we," or "us"). This policy applies to the PRAVIEL apps for iOS, Android, and the web, to praviel.com and our other websites, and to related services and communications (together, the "Service").
Third-party platforms you reach through PRAVIEL, such as app stores, Discord, and payment or donation platforms, handle your information under their own policies.
2. Information We Collect
What we collect depends on how you use the Service. It falls into these categories:
Account information
Your email address, username, optional display name, and sign-in details. Passwords are stored only in hashed form.
Profile information (optional)
Details you choose to add, such as a photo, age range, gender or pronouns, location, a short bio, community usernames, and interests.
Personalization information (optional)
If you choose, details such as your religious or spiritual background, ethnic or ancestral heritage, and the periods and subjects that interest you. Some of this is sensitive information. It is off by default, used only for the personalization you turn on, and you can remove it at any time. We ask for your explicit consent before we use religious or spiritual details.
Learning activity
Your progress, answers, scores, XP, streaks, achievements, review schedules, reading activity, searches, settings, and how you use features.
Content you send us
Messages, feedback, bug and content reports, survey answers, blog comments, and what you submit to features such as the Coach or the Reader. Blog comments include the name and email address you enter with them.
Voice recordings
If you use pronunciation feedback, the recordings you submit and the results we derive from them.
Device and usage information
Device type, operating system, app version, language and time-zone settings, IP address and the approximate location it indicates, a random app-installation identifier, referral or campaign details, notification tokens, timestamps, and diagnostics such as crash and error reports.
Purchase information
If you buy something through Apple App Store or Google Play, the store processes the payment and gives us the transaction details we need to provide, verify, or refund the purchase. We do not receive your full card number. If you support PRAVIEL through a donation or supporter platform, that platform may share details such as your name, email address, and contribution with us.
What we do not collect
- Advertising identifiers such as IDFA or GAID.
- Your browsing activity on other companies' websites and apps.
- Full payment card details.
3. How We Use Information
- Provide, maintain, and sync the Service, including lessons, the Coach, the Reader, review, and your progress.
- Personalize your experience, including with optional information you choose to share.
- Understand how the Service is used and develop, test, and improve features and content.
- Detect, investigate, and fix errors, crashes, and performance problems.
- Protect the Service and the people who use it, including preventing fraud, spam, and abuse, and enforcing our Terms.
- Communicate with you about your account, your requests, and changes to the Service.
- Process purchases and handle refunds, chargebacks, and disputes.
- Comply with the law, respond to lawful requests, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Legal bases
Where laws such as the GDPR apply, we rely on performance of our contract with you (to provide the Service), our legitimate interests in operating, securing, understanding, and improving the Service, your consent (for example, for optional analytics and optional personalization, which you can withdraw at any time), and compliance with legal obligations.
Aggregated and de-identified information
We may create aggregated or de-identified information that no longer identifies you, and use or share it for any lawful purpose, such as measuring usage or reporting on how learners use PRAVIEL.
4. Analytics and Error Reporting
On our websites, analytics stay off until you opt in through the privacy controls. When you opt in, we use a privacy-focused analytics service, route events through our own servers, and set no advertising cookies.
In the apps, we measure usage with our own first-party analytics rather than an advertising or analytics network.
We use error-monitoring tools, including Sentry, to find and fix crashes and errors. Error reports are limited to technical details, and they are sent whether or not you enable optional analytics, because we need them to keep the Service working.
6. AI Features
Some features, such as the Coach, Reader help, and pronunciation feedback, send the content they need to third-party AI providers for processing. That content can include your messages and questions, voice recordings, the text you are studying, recent conversation context, and personalization details you have turned on.
We currently use AI services from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google. Providers, models, and features may change. We do not intentionally include your name, email address, or account credentials in AI requests, and we do not intentionally keep pronunciation audio after it is processed.
Lessons are prepared in advance, so ordinary lessons do not send your information to AI providers.
Do not submit sensitive personal information in free-text fields or recordings. AI output can be wrong, so check anything important.
7. How We Share Information
We share information only as described here:
- Service providers that host, store, secure, deliver, or support the Service for us, such as providers of hosting and content delivery, databases and servers, error monitoring, email delivery, analytics, and AI processing. They may use the information only to provide their services to us.
- App stores and payment platforms, such as Apple App Store and Google Play, when you make a purchase.
- Legal and safety reasons, when we believe disclosure is required by law or legal process, or is needed to protect the rights, property, or safety of PRAVIEL, our users, or others.
- Business transfers, if PRAVIEL is involved in a reorganization, financing, merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or transfer to a new legal entity. Information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- At your direction, when you ask us to share something or choose to make it public.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
8. How Long We Keep Information
We keep information while your account is active and as long as needed for the purposes in this policy, including to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce our agreements.
When you delete your account in the app, we disable it right away and permanently delete the account and its associated app data after a 30-day grace period. Signing in during the grace period cancels the deletion. Limited records may be kept longer where needed for purchases, refunds, fraud prevention, security, or legal reasons.
Backups and logs are deleted on their own schedules. Aggregated or de-identified information may be kept indefinitely.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, such as encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and restricted access to production systems.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International Transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers operate in other countries. Your information may be processed in the United States and elsewhere, where data protection laws may differ from those where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
11. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing.
You can update your profile, turn off personalization and notifications, and delete your account in the app's settings. On our websites, you can change your choices in the privacy controls. For other requests, see the account deletion and data deletion pages, or email privacy@praviel.com from the address linked to your account.
We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we may decline or limit a request where the law allows. If you are in the EEA, the UK, or another place with a data protection authority, you may lodge a complaint with it.
12. Children
PRAVIEL is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you are under 18, you may use PRAVIEL only with the permission of a parent or guardian. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it. Contact privacy@praviel.com if you believe this has happened.
13. Contact
The controller of your information is Anton Soloviev, doing business as PRAVIEL, in the United States. For privacy questions or requests, email privacy@praviel.com.
Your use of PRAVIEL is also governed by our Terms of Service.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may change this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the date at the top, and where the law requires, we will give you additional notice, such as in the app or by email. If you keep using the Service after an update takes effect, the updated policy applies to you.
We may translate this policy for convenience. If a translation differs from the English version, the English version controls to the extent the law allows.
